The Best Scenes in Exile KoTLC

Exile is a tiny snowball, only starting to become something really big. There are still too many unknowns in the book that I don’t want to end up spoiling, but what I can share are my favorite scenes in the book. Enjoy!

1. When the Hekses came to try to take Silveny: Keefe, Fitz, and Biana’s cameo was perfect comedic relief for this already high-tension scene where Silveny was almost taken. When Keefe said that he had to look good for the ladies and Sophie blushed, I almost squealed. And Sophie putting Vika in her place when she couldn’t control Silveny as the “expert”? So incredibly satisfying. 

2. Grady, Edaline, and Sophie visiting the Wanderlings: The scene was so heartbreaking, but it was also fascinating to read, especially when someone reads the series for the first time. Firstly, the Lord of the Ring’s reference was perfect. I absolutely love it when Sophie’s human life is brought up and clashes with the elvin way, and I love how the elves inspired such a classic masterpiece of work. Secondly, I genuinely just loved reading the descriptions of the trees and how the wanderlings work. I can vividly picture the field in my mind, and I love how death is celebrated instead of mourned. 

3. Rehearsals for the opening ceremony: A lot of the book’s latter part is so heavy and upsetting that I loved this filler part of the book. Seeing Sophie feel unease with the dance performance she has to practice is so relatable, at least for me, and it was just such a light-hearted scene where you really see her friends’ personality shine

4. After Sophie’s accident during Base Quest: Her coming out in a red tunic that made both Keefe and Fitz stare was amusing. It was one of the earliest hints of a love triangle for me, especially when it was my first ever read. It was such a short scene but foreshadowed so much in the later books

5. Keefe helping Sophie with her plan to help Alden: His commentary when he first entered Sophie’s room was peak content (I mean, anything with Keefe is, of course, peak content…). I also loved the later scene when he does the shading trick to uncover the words from the missing pages of Sophie’s journal. They just work so well together

6. Bonus: When Keefe and Sophie fly on Silveny to the Black Swan hideout: Both of them are always so vulnerable with each other and compliment each other so well. I love how much they always care for each other and check up on each other, ever since the beginning of the series
