Shopping for gifts is one of the most stressful endeavors that one can partake in during this time of year. It genuinely takes years off my life when I have to brainstorm and run around a million different stores to get the perfect gift. If you’ve got someone in your life who loves books, you're in luck! I’ve created a list of bookish gifts that would be the perfect addition to their homes/bookshelves.

1) Elaborate Bookmarks

Okay, don’t get bored and leave just yet. Bookmarks are honestly one of the most beautiful things to add to any bookish collection. You can get fancy metal ones, ones engraved with designs, painted ones, ones adorned with beads, and even themed ones about a certain book/series. Finding high-quality and artistic bookmarks is a sweet way to appreciate a reader in your life.

2) Cozy Wear

Getting gifted items meant for comfort and support during long reading sessions in the winter months is so elite. Search for the fluffiest blankets, warmest hoodies, and cutest slippers. Check out online businesses even places like Etsy to find some beautiful merchandise, especially themed ones with specific book quotes and references. You can level it up by throwing in a fancy robe, a weighted blanket, and a nice cashmere sweater! It’s all about staying warm and comfortable.

3) A Blind Date with a Book

Okay, now this is the perfect gift. Many sellers and websites (like Etsy) offer a package you can’t miss out on. It’s a wrapped book with its contents including a surprise book. You can pick the genre, but creative liberty belongs to the seller, which adds to the anticipation! Sellers often cover it with the most aesthetically pleasing wrapping and include themed items as well. Stickers and bookmarks are common things that you can find!

4) Annotating a Book

This is a more sentimental one, but buying a book for a loved one (specifically one that they have talked about a lot, would be interested in, or one that reminds you of them) and adding your special notes and thoughts in the margins is one way to become their favorite person. The time and consideration it takes to do this is such a good way to show your appreciation and love for someone! Pair it with sticky notes, tabs, and some pretty highlighters so they can use them for future annotating sessions. This one is definitely one of my favorite options!

5) Bookish Candles/Scents

Some people are unbelievably creative. There are a myriad of online stores and small businesses that sell candles that are formulated with the vibe of one of your favorite books/characters in mind. Car diffusers and even room sprays are unexpected items that have notes and fragrances that are customizable and are tied to various literary references and series. Check these out for sure; it’s so fun to browse through the options and the different scent notes.
